1 декабря сразу в нескольких городах прошли митинги против строительства целлюлозно-бумажного комбината (ЦБК) на Рыбинском водохранилище в верховьях реки Волги. Один из митингов прошёл в Череповце и несмотря на морозную погоду собрал более 1000 человек.

Выступить на митинге приехали политики и общественники со всей страны. От Астрахани и Башкирии до Москвы и Вологды.

Экологи и депутаты Госдумы, пенсионеры и молодые люди, неравнодушных к проблеме загрязнения великой русской реки Волги множество.

Я тоже выступил на митинге и предлагаю вынести вопрос на международный уровень.

Для этого уже сейчас можно направить письмо в инвестиционный фонд Мубадала (Mubadala) с требованием отказаться от финансирования проекта несущего экологическую угрозу Волге.

  «We are residents of the city of Cherepovets, the Vologda Oblast and the Russian Federation, declare that we strongly disagree with the construction of a pulp mill on the shore of the Rybinsk reservoir! The planned enterprise carries an environmental threat to both Cherepovets and its environs, as well as to the entire Volga basin, where about 60% of the population of the European part of our state lives.
  The insistent desire of the steel and plywood magnate Mordashov to build a giant pulp mill is understandable: high export profits and long-term tax benefits are a tidbit. But for local residents, the construction of the plant does not portend anything but negative consequences. The scanty number of highly specialized jobs does not compensate for the real threat to the health of entire generations of people, the flora and fauna, the unique ecosystem of the Rybinsk Reservoir and the Volga River Basin.
Scientists unanimously say: the environmental load on the Rybinsk reservoir is already high, the additional impact of a large industrial facility will simply destroy it. And with it, all efforts within the framework of the federal project “Improvement of the Volga”, to which hundreds of billions of rubles are planned to be spent, will be nullified — this is more than the planned tax revenues from the pulp mill for many years.
  Thus, the construction of a pulp mill in the Vologda Oblast is both environmentally and economically impractical.
